Dr. Ashley Lyons
Biography
Ashley is a Royal Academy of Engineering Research Fellow in the School of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Glasgow. His research interests include developing new machine learning based approaches to computational imaging and time-of-flight sensing as well as quantum sensing/imaging using two-photon interference and entanglement. Ashley also serves as the Research Group Coordinator for the Extreme Light group where he manages the lab and office facilities.
Ashley was born in Nottinghamshire, England in 1991 and obtained his PhD in 2017 from Heriot-Watt University in the Extreme Light group. He moved to the University of Glasgow in 2018 as a Research Associate and later Lecturer from 2020 onwards. In 2021 he was awarded a Leverhulme Trust Early Career Fellowship as well as a RAeng Research Fellowship where he intends to combine neuromorphic processing techniques with single photon time-of-flight sensing.
